BE STRONGER THAN YOUR EXCUSES.

i am at a place in my life where i'm sick of my own excuses.  this is a good thing. this is a great thing. cause when you get fed up and sick and tired of going around the same ol' mountain (thanks, Heather Lindsey <3 ) then that's usually when it's (past due) time to GET UP & do something about it.  it's time to work.  it's no secret that the gym is my happy place.. but sometimes (often times) i find myself running /escaping there to avoid doing the things i know i need to be doing.  the things God has called me to do because He wants His plan for my life to be executed properly.  i have about 2 kabillion hopes, plans, and dreams for my blog, my family, our fitness companies & endeavors, etc. etc. etc........ lest i forget that shoes don't walk by themselves. things don't happen unless you get up make them happen.  pray fervently (James 5:16) but don't just sit there....move.  we (yep, YOU and i) have so much work to do!!!  God has plans and a purpose for everyone.

committing to a 14 week-long bikini competition training? sure, let's do it.  committing to hit the gym 6-7 days a week (yes, even at 5:30am)? done.  committing to eating low-no processed foods and an overall clean diet daily? been there, done that, still doing it.  however, i want to apply and execute the same kind of commitment to many other areas of my life.... and i'm not. cause i'm scared.  my mind often overflows with, "what if" this and "what if" that....  but how long will i stand in my own way and let this go on?  will i wake up at age 50 with regret after regret after regret?  will i half do my tasks, never giving 100% thus never truly seeing the full, ripest fruits of my labor? i have so many questions. too many. but i'm tired. tired of hearing my own voice rambling away in my head.  i'm ready to start doing.

Cross Fit Fulshear

i have been wanting to try Cross Fit foreeeeever and i finally got the chance!

one of my biggest fitness inspirations, Alli Vasquez, is co-owner of CrossFit Fulshear! I'm incredibly excited for her and was honored to have been invited to their Get Real event yesterday morning. she is so passionate about sharing her purpose with others and such a humble, sweet woman.

there was Zumba indoors, and a boot camp happening outside.  i planned to do both before i realized they were happening at the same time!  so after a few songs i stepped outside for some team circuit training. i've always seen the row machine at the gym and never used it...until yesterday.

the trainers coached us through a combo of kettle bell swings, high knees, walking weighted lunges, rowing, mountain climbers, and then we flipped a few tires. fun, fun.

i grabbed a quick snack outta my bag as i had a full morning of training ahead of me in addition to this event.  i had a crunchy nectarine right after boot camp, and some chicken breast chunks, carrots, and grape tomatoes for later.  then, Alli hopped on the bullhorn cause it was time....

i see that acronym aaaaaall over instagram on some of the fitness pages i follow. it stands for Workout Of the Day. ours was 1 min of the following exercises 3 times straight, no breaks:

  • wall ball squats

  • kettle bell swings

  • toe touch sit ups

  • ball slams

  • row machine

after each coach explained the exercises i was all like, 'but where are the muscle ups? handstand push ups? cleans?' bwhahahaha!  yeah, i am definitely not ready for all that stuff, but those are the moves i think of whenever i hear the words Cross Fit. one of the trainers graciously recorded some footage of me in action:

YEAH. loved it.  i'd also love to stick with it so that i can look back at this a few months down the line and see my progress. we'll see what happens!

i had to head back to Houston to train one of our 6 Pack USA clients and spotted this baby on the way to my car. taking pics of cars is so not my thing but when it comes to Vettes...i couldn't help it! isn't she everything!? looked like it was about to transform into an autobot or something #chills

fueling up and eating with my hands cause i forgot my fork!  i used two kinds of Weber Seasoning (from Walmart) on the chicken breasts: Beer Can Chicken and Garlic Sriracha. i hope you spent your weekend doing something you enjoyed too!

reading that blessed me in a major way.  even though my IG account is mostly a combo of fitness inspiration, food, relevant funny memes, and a lil bit of family, i never want to lose sight of the BIG picture, which is pointing souls toward Christ and being a light for Him via my lifestyle.  He is apart of everything i do.  and if he isn't, i want no part of it.  my account did not start out this way though.  i used to follow the big 'fitspo' pages until they became oversexualized and promoting everything but fitness.  seems like Likes and praise from man outweigh His approval more and more these days but i refuse to compromise my faith...anymore. i have deleted many a picture because it made me uneasy and didn't sit well with my spirit.  which means it didn't sit well with Him either!  at this point in my life, i simply want what He wants.  if that means letting go of those IG pages that stunt my spiritual growth, so be it. done.  IDK how in the world i found Heather Lindsey but she has been a blessing ever since that fateful day.  whew! she inspires me daily as a woman, wife, and mother and has such an inspiring testimony.  if you aren't already following her, #youremissingout!

i found this on Instagram somewhere and i thought it was the cutest thing ever.  it reminded me of my parents actually. my mom is a few inches taller than my dad so they'd have to switch though, hahahaha!  this could be Sonny and i, but the amount of time i spend in any grocery store annoys him (it's an experience. hello.) and i'd never come out with just 5 items. even at Sam's.

speaking of grocery shopping, we took a trip to the best store eva after church today, Central Market.  the Chocolate Festival is currently going on until the 17th of this month, guys! i believe we have gone for the past 4 or 5 years now.

we strolled right on up as these guys were being served. salty, sweet PERFECTION! i grabbed a recipe card immediately.  you bet i'm gonna make a heathified version of these puppies.

we grabbed lunch inside before heading out to the patio to enjoy the live band.  Chiso is unbelievably picky and wasn't interested in anything CM had to offer. well, besides candy of course, which was not happening. so, he had a banana and some plantain chips for the time being and i made him some pizza when we got home.
