by the grace of God, we’ve been busy☺️. out of all our recent home transformations:
i cannot and will not pick a favorite! no way no how. this reno is most definitely our kids’ favorite though! they’ve now got a pretty amazing game room to work and play in; this was Sonny’s vision brought to life with the help and resources of of some truly talented peeps. check out this before pic:
we had that tan/brown/earth-tone combo going on for years and it was definitely time to switch things up. the couch’s welcome was worn out about 5 years ago in my book! the kids threw the pillows on the floor multiple times a day, drew on it, used it as a trampoline, and it just became a huge, microfiber eyesore.
we actually replaced the carpet and gave the walls a fresh new coat of gray for our entire 2nd floor last year.
it still needed major work and was just waiting to be blessed by Trinisha!
Trinisha Jackson of TJDesign_Interiors is the GOAT. this is her 3rd room transformation for us and her wow factor game is strong! Sonny listened to our kids’ game room wishlist, relayed that info over to Trinisha, and she quickly shot us back the schematic above. Sonny put on his contractor hat and dove right in .
nailed it🙌🏽.
each big kid has their own area to sit and work/play at! my brother, Matthew, of Spectrum Electronics, installed the recessed lighting, the multi-port wallplates (HDMI, USB, A/C, etc.) ran cabling for each station, and mounted the tv.
i’ve tagged a few things on this wall for you guys starting with those eye-catching ottomans that truly pop in pictures and IRL. they are soft, cushioned, and swivel around 360 degrees.
the motivational posters say, “Never give up”, Yes you can” , and “Don’t wish for it, work for it” and the wooden dividers separate each workspace.
those striped and solid fabric, cubby inserts hold any cords, remotes, game controllers, and toys (and who knows what else’ll be in there in a few weeks time lol). Sonny also found these cool, simple bamboo pen/pencil holders for each station.
the cubbies themselves were built into the wall and installed by @isomhomeservices.
these mustard, tufted chairs caused quite an uproar in my IG stories! not only do they look comfy, they actually are. they’re great for movie watching or game playing. that gorgeous geometric rug was the 2nd most popular inquiry. turquoise & gold are my blog colors and this room now matches our first floor living area. Justin’s Home Services fixated the word “PLAY” on the wall using unfinished wood as well as the white trim surrounding it. the dimmer switches Sonny installed on the walls lets us toggle the lighting to our liking.
the curtains and rod are subtle yet fit into the whole color scheme just as Trinisha mapped out! i love how unique the light fixture looks- you can’t help but look up when you walk into the space. the 3 legged coffee table is the perfect style for the room and height for the kids.
we hope their new game room encourages them to work hard and play hard! our boys are now back to in-person school but Kosi’s preschool class is now held in the game room instead of at our kitchen table. after school, they come straight up here to read, do homework, puzzles, draw, or play some video games.
maybe we’ll still be under this roof by the time Nosi starts school, maybe we won’t! wherever the Lord leads us is where we will go, and we’re enjoying where he has us right now🙂.
did i miss anything!?
let me know if you have questions about any item or contractor in particular. thanks for reading!
